Kingsheath Construction ("we", "us", "our") is unequivocally committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our corporate activities and ensuring that our supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking. This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We are dedicated to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
We are committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains. Our internal policies reflect our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity. These include our Whistleblowing Policy, which encourages all workers, customers, and other business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities or the supply chains of the organisation.
Our employee code of conduct makes it clear that we expect all employees to act with integrity and in a manner that upholds our values.
Our supply chain consists of suppliers of materials, plant, and subcontracted labour for our construction projects across Kent and the South East. We recognise that this is our area of greatest risk.
We have established a due diligence process to manage this risk. As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we:
We assess the risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chains on an ongoing basis. We understand that the construction industry has a higher risk of labour exploitation. Therefore, we focus our efforts on ensuring that all workers on our sites, whether directly employed or employed by subcontractors, are treated fairly and have the right to work in the UK.
We conduct regular site audits which include checks on employee documentation and welfare facilities to ensure compliance with our standards and legal requirements.
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff. All senior management and procurement staff have been briefed on the subject.
We are committed to raising awareness among all our employees about the issue of modern slavery, enabling them to identify potential signs of exploitation and understand the appropriate channels for reporting their concerns.
We encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if they turn out to be mistaken. We are committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting in good faith their suspicion that modern slavery of whatever form is or may be taking place in any part of our own business or in any of our supply chains.
Concerns can be raised with line management or through the channels outlined in our Whistleblowing Policy.
We will use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:
